After School Program (DTT)

Children’s After School Program (DTT)

Our Day Treatment & Training After School Program (DTT) is designed for school-aged children and adolescents between 13 and 17 years of age. Typically, the program maintains a ratio of one staff member for every four clients; however, in special situations a one-on-one ratio can be provided. The ultimate goal is to create the best environment in which each individual can explore his or her potential and personal growth. We strongly encourage you to schedule a tour of DEC to ask questions and see how the center works with our clients and their families.

Our program provides specialized sensory-motor, cognitive, communication, social interaction, and behavior training. Training in daily living skills may include health & nutrition through our cooking classes, computer skills, money management, personal hygiene & safety awareness, and motor skill development.

Personal growth and social skills are enriched by:

  • Artistic & musical expression opportunities
  • Local field trips to the library, mall, museums, movies, and community recreation*
  • Computer lab
  • Cooking & nutrition classes
  • And Much More!

Above all, our staff is committed to providing an atmosphere of unconditional love and acceptance that allows each child the time, encouragement, and confidence to achieve his or her own personal goals.

Youth Transitions

The prospect of adulthood looming ahead is particularly complex for individuals affected by developmental disabilities, their families, and the people who care about them. Our Youth Transitions Program focuses on enabling choice-making skills, discovering personal preferences, and promoting independence to ensure success in achieving personal goals.

Goals vary by individual and can include:

  • Peer-to-peer relationship building
  • Handing a cashier the right amount of money when purchasing a favorite CD
  • Cooking a healthy meal
  • Learning to tie shoes and button shirts

Enrollment in our Youth Transitions Program follows the school calendar year and is limited to space availability. Contact your support coordinator today to obtain an authorization and to submit the most recent copy of the child’s Individual Service Plan (ISP).

As a service to our families, Developmental Enrichment Centers offers transportation from school to the After School DTT program and home again (some restrictions apply). The Day Treatment & Training Program for children and adolescents runs from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year.** Special arrangements may be made for extended hours (covered by either private pay or authorized respite service), school holidays, and early release days.
