Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is charged with the governance of DEC, making sure that it abides by ethical and legal standards in making its vision a reality Members serve as trustees of DEC and are responsible to the agency’s clients, to the community, to funders, to the government, and to taxpayers as a whole. The Board of Directors is also responsible for seeing that the agency keeps the promises described in the agency’s mission and values statements.
The following are just a few of the activities
the board is involved in:
- Policy/Governance
- Support (giving and acquisition)
- Stewardship (of organization’s assets)
- Planning (in meaningful partnership
with executive director) - Committee Service
- Individual Efforts
Event Committees
The functions of these groups are varied but center around information, building relationships and raising money to meet special or ongoing needs of DEC. Members are encouraged to take on a leadership role for planning and coordinating revenue-generating strategies.
